do you know of any stores that sell these already made? there's a good chance i would flood my apartment if i try to make this myself.

I've never really looked. I prefer building my own equipment when I can. Alot of the older aquaculture books contain great plans for the do-it-yourselfers.

I use a Supreme Classic 9.5 (by Danner) pump. Leave it sitting in the sink with the Python hooked up to it. Makes water changes/vac in my 90, 144,+ 175g a breeze and no more using the faucet water pressure to syphon saves on the water bill and eliminates waste.

On the big tanks, I use a home-made gravel washer. It's a 5" pvc pipe joined to a 1 1/2" fitting and pool hose. Moves tons more water.

Hey! Thats my method! You stole my idea...or did I steal yours?
Antway, I can drain a 220 in about 10min. I love it! Plus, I'm not wasting water...pythons and similar devices waste tons of water.
If you dont want or need to clean the substrate, you can even go bigger on the drain hose and move more water, just dont go to big you can start the siphon!. Just a piece of advice though, put a screen on the end to avoid sucking smaller fish up and out! Done it, not funny.
