Does anyone use in-tank algae screens?

I threw this one together with zip ties, and gutter guard just to see what results if any, occur in the near future. laced it under the pump influent to tank.




I transferred algae from another bank of tanks.
 
Algae needs a much more "prickly" surface to thrive on so it sticks and multiplies.
