Morton sells 50 lbs bags of pure salt for $12-$14. Call any nearby feed store or petshop. Most lFS use these.
blue bag? solar salt? i buy these at lowes/walmart for about $5

no salt at all hear

why do you need to add salt unless the fish are sick

I've read that there is a little salt in some of the waters of the datnoids native habitats and that they like to have a little salt in their water but that it's not absolutely necessary. I am confused though because if their native habitat has some salt in the water, wouldn't marine salt be the correct way of replicating that?

It's a good tonic that can be used with every waterchange without any negative effects. Some people use it all the time as sort of a preventive measure or because some fish feel more comfortable with a little salt. It's kind of like carbon in your filter, generally it's not necessary but it has benefits. Some people swear by it, some people never use it and some people use it for specific applications.

$5 for 50lbs?????

Damn!!! I just brought some kosher salt last night from the supermarket for $1.50.

Is the "solar" salt better?? Can I change the salt I use for the next wc?? Or should I stick with the same kosher salt?

I used it one time and ich broke out in my 65 gal O.o Never gonna do that again...

The salt usually treats ich. I don't think the salt caused the ich breakout..
Ich is caused by temp changes and stuff like that right?
