does anyone with a fx5

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The FX5 course pad is also a fine pad and clogs so easily, IMHO pads are useless in high flow filters.

so without these pads how does waste get trapped?

in the big sponges that are all around the 3 baskets

Those fine pads for the filter are crap!! Just get rid of 'em. I just filled the first basket with those green scratch pads and noodles or bio stars in the rest of the baskets.

I AM GOING TO TRY THAT .

If you have to use pads, place them in the bottom basket in FX5, then coarser material in the top 2,to trap the larger debris before it clogs the pad on the bottom..FX5 intake runs top to bottom opposite of most canisters such as the XP3 or 4... frankly pads are a waste of time with this filter...

cool beans thanks !!

I just got a fx5 & the only thing that came with it was the white spong"s around the 3 baskets . Should I leve the spong"s in or remove them?and I was thinking about using scrubys in all 3 baskets . what do ya think??

leave the ones that surround the basket there. then fill the baskets with pot scrubbies and fire it up...youll be good to go.
mike

you will need 12 scrubbies in each basket :D
