Does carbon pull tannins?

I've used Purigen and Fluval Opti-Carb in the past for this. Both worked equally good IMO.

They both work well, but if you REALLY want to get the job done(aside from boiling), Kent Organic Absorption Resin is, by far, the most effective filter media for removing tannins.

i like the color myself. it goes very well with discus setups and actinics. it keeps the tank somewhat dark and providing subdued lighting, and the actinic brings all the color of the fish out.
