Does egg crate/light defuser float? I'm not very good at DIY and think it would be even harder to fasten it in place if it has a lot of buoyancy.
Just some extra info that isn't overly important: I need to seperate my sen. bichir from my other frish, so I can regulate how much he is eating. Two four-lined pims in the aquarium refuse to eat unless it is completely dark. For awhile the bichir has been developing a very large bulge in his stomach. It goes away sometimes, so I think he might be just eating most of the pims food(I can't see). Today, I noticed that he has some red areas on his belly that I'm hoping are caused by him dragging his enlarged belly, not something worse. Since I would like to avoid buying another aquarium, at the moment, I think this is the cheapest way to see if over-eating is the problem. It would also be a good solution. Just wanted to share because this is really frustrating me.
