Does formalin treat velvet?

Formalin has been known to free the fish of the parasites, but the parasites are still alive and can re-infect. Formalin baths have been used, but since the fish has to be in water not infected with the parasite.
Did some research and this is what I found for you (Not really a disease expert). If anyone else could back me up that would be great.

Thanks I've done some research on it and come up with using malachite green with formalin and aquarium salt
The combo works better than formalin by itself. Still I have heard people using the quick cure and having yes and no results with use. Main issue is to use the medicine up to some after visual signs have stopped. This helps increase the effectiveness. Copper is even better,effectiveness, but tough tolerate especially fish with no scales.
Formalin will only reliably treat the dinospores, which are swimming around looking to infect a fish. Eradication with formalin will require several treatments and timing may be tricky.
According to Noga (who wrote "the book" on fish diseases), 1tsp salt per 5 gallons will kill it, but the treatment must be "prolonged" so keep the tank salinity at that level. Three weeks should be more than enough unless your temperatures are below 60 degrees. That will give it plenty of time to go through the entire life cycle.
