How many of us promise ourselves, our girlfriends and so on that the next purchase of fish is the last one. "After this i'm happy" Has anyone ever been able to keep to there word, or am I the only one with little self control when it comes to keeping fish. Also what is the longest road trip any of you have taken to buy a fish? (give us time in hours to make it easy for everyone to understand)

I need to stop buying fish soon. I have spent more moneuy than I ever thought I would. I had a $10 marble cat eat my 2, yes 2, leichardti aro babies that were $200 each. I drive to shark aquarium weekly about a 80 mile round trip. Never really drove any further than that though. Have had stuff shipped to avoid driving. Right now I am actually sitting at home waiting for my 2 wide bar dats and korean perch from Wes!

I stopped buying for awhile....untill last weekend....lol....I bought 5 Kribs....
I did tell myself I was not going to buy more fish....
We have driven about 30 miles out of our way to go see what this fish store had to offer, and when we got there, they were closeing! Turns out that the person I talked to gave me the wrong store hours!!! I was sooo mad at them, they actually opened back up to let me see what they had! (I did not buy any fish either....) The store sucked!

The answer is no.
It never ends.
The excitement of setting up a new tank, and introducing your preferred
fish is much too addicting.
Seek help now before your money is all gone.

My girlfriend just asked me the other day
" Does it ever end" ?

I just laughed.

I'm the WRONG one to ask. Over 100 tanks and I'm setting up 5 more this week (5 tanks=1700+gallons).
That's quite a bit of work you got there. You do maintenance daily?

I've traveled over a hundred miles round trip to purchase fish. I am trying to control the purchasing and addition of more fish. I am trying to downgrade the number of fish so I could add just the ones I wanted to keep. I like to buy fish in bulk, and hopefully get a few to survive to adulthood. You never get to know the fish if you just buy, buy, buy. That's where you need to set up more tanks. Wish I had the room to do it, but I cannot afford it. Hopefully I could find homes to the ones I need to sell, and make room for the ones I wanted to keep.

heh, I can see it ending, when I have no more money...

It all started with a 18 gallon tank... then that went to a 90. That turned into a 210. That is turning into a 1200 at the beginning of next year...

The trick is to get everyone that you know addicted with you, so instead of them thinking that it's weird you are just the most extream.

But the longest trip for fish was probably 120 miles round trip. Maybe 3 hours drive.

I stopped. Ive been to the numerous tanks road before and i always
ended up tired and guilty because i cant do the proper care that i should give to my fish. I have 2 tanks and a tub right now (and a q tank ) and i think i will stay at that for some time. I might upgrade to a larger size tank and buy a fish or 2 but thats about it in the meantime. :)
