With no disrespect intended. Do you think it matters where a filter is made? Also, does it affect your decision when you look at purchasing it?

Since so many things we buy are made in China or elsewhere in Asia,I usually don't check to see where the filters are made.It does not really matter to me.

What matters is consistent proven performance, longevity of products, and replacement parts availability over manufacturing origin. Difficult for a new name or unheard-of company to offer.

Exactly as oddball stated.

I buy AQ's as my hobs and fluval canisters because I have had them for years and are reliable. I trust the manufacturer wether they are built in Colorado or Egypt.

Fluval is the only brand I buy. I have no idea, nor do I care where they are made.
I would try Eheim if I had the money.

Only if money were no issue. Because it is, absolutely not. :) Truth be told, my china made filters are just as good as European made, in my humble opinion. Its about initial design, manufacturing, resources and quality control, not where its made.

Quality and longevity i what im after... So dont really mind where its made as long as it does the job, doesnt leak and lasts a while...

The China knock off brands i would be wary about only because i know there QC would be a heck of a lot lower than say a well known reputable brand...

Doesnt matter to me!.. I use to work well.. cant tell ya where... but we use to send all of our "MADE IN USA" boxes, shells covers, etc.. to china. They would make our product, put them in our box and shells and ship it back to the USA. The box and shells itself was "MADE IN USA" but the product and components itself wasnt... buy yourself a shirt that says made in USA, and Im sure its just the tag that was made in the USA, not the shirt....just my 2 cents..

If you are old enough, you will remember "made in Japan" meant junk. The reason for this was after the war American companies went in there and contracted for them to make cheap junk for us. Later they wised up and made quality stuff mainly because of a guy named W. Edwards Deming. Look him up, good read. My point is, "junk" comes from China now, because that is what we "want". Apple makes their phones there. They aren't junk.

Having dealt with a lot of production companies in China i can tell you they definitely range from very very bad ones, to pretty top notch ones...

In other words, you pay for what you get...
