Hey all so I have heard previously people say that with darker colored gravel the coloration on your fish stands out a lot more, I was just wondering if aquarium lighting can have a similar affect on fish.

yeah
I don't think light directly encourages a fish to exhibit particular patterning over a different light regime like gravel might.

gravel - might chage fish's colours
light - will change how colours already present appear to us

^ agreed with above statements;

Light may change the appearance of colors / markings to us...

But gravel is what will affect a fishes physical coloring / markings...

Agreed.. Its the other way around.. spectrum range affects color appearance, wattage only affects intensity.
