I think I read something once that said live foods make fish more aggressive/predatory. I have a few fish that have never had a live meal, but I been thinking about giving them some guppies or ghost shrimp as a treat, like once in a great while. But if its true that they may become more aggressive/predatory because of it, I dont know if I wanna do it.

The main fish that will be given these treats are a young GT and Jewel Cichlid. Maybe even my golden wonder killifish might be given a guppy too.

Some fishes that have never been fed a live meal, will sometimes don't even know what to do with it, except swim with it... hahaha.
But i heard the same about the Aggression.

O rly thats interesting so if i fed oscar live stuff the tank would explode because he is already angry enough :nilly:

You're exaggerating.;)

I've fed my loaches and severums feeders a few times and they remain passive to me. Could be different but I don't use feeders much due to the risk they can pose.

I believe that the fish will only become aggressive if fed live feeders constantly; fed occasionally in combination with pellets / frozen food as a staple would be the best bet. Nothing to worry about if you only feed live feeders once in a blue moon IMO.

I have never found that after I fed them live they got more aggressive towards other tank mates. I do think that they become more active and better hunters though. I highly recommend giving them live stuff semi-frequently if not just to mix up their diet some.

Wouldn't you get more agro if you had to bake your own cookies rather than just have them laying there ready to eat?

Once a month I put 100 rosies in my tank of Aros and Cats...they seem to be more mellow after a day or so...Dunno if it's because they are tired from having to work for the food, or just full tummied. but aggression between them ceases for a while...
