Does Overfeeding Ruin A Fish's Color?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Overfeeding = Poor Water Quality = Poor coloration and health = Death

what about overfeeding while doing frequent water changes?
I have 4 small datnoids and a few other mini monster grow outs, small polys in a 20gallon with a rena xp3, ac50, and lots and lots of floating plants, anubias, java fern/ moss to take out extra nutrients.
I also do water changes daily, at least 25% if not more. But im currently power feeding to grow them out. 1 pellet trained dat is mighty fat and overall .25 inches larger in every dimension than the other datnoids.
Is this over feeding? i dont put excess food in there that there is still food around and all the fish are full.
So is overfeeding simply so much food that there is extra food always in the tank- or can you physically just feed them too much?

Over feeding is bad no matter how you look at it. If you suspect your feeding them too much, then feed less at more intervals. I feed my fish when I get the chance. Usually that involves once in the morning, if I'm home in the after noon they get a snack of either beefheart or bloodworms, then once at night with pellets. Ocassionally I will throw some guppie fry in from my breeder tank.
