does size matter

Male must be bigger because females get really aggressive in breeding dress and can kill the smaller male very easily, youll never know till you try and every fish has difference personality, just remember what I said first.

It's ok to try it. I have on a few different occasions put (within reason) a smaller male with a larger female. I had them divided in a 150g tank and waited for the females tube to drop then I put her in his side of the tank. Make sure you have plenty of time available to watch them and make sure there not killing each other. Works for me...........

i agreewith the first response. females are MEAN and can kill your male if he is smaller. the male needs to be able to dominate the female or she won't breed with him anyway. i guess you could get lucky, but i would wait until your male is bigger. fh males grow very quickly and he will have a much better chance of surviving and not getting beat down.
