Hi guys,
can anyone tell me if the temperature of your system makes a difference to what a prego female ray will produce ie: higher temp produce more female pups and lower temp produce more male pups.
I tried this theory on chiclids a few years ago and it did have an impact on what they hatched but want to know if it would be the same for rays.
Any thoughts or experiences would be great.

i thought it was just for crocs and alligators

I know first hand this is true for pythons. You guys that are having pups it would be nice to know the male/female ratio and temp.

I was wondering about this. My last batch of pups was all male. This was after setting my heater on a higher setting. I think that there is perhaps a ideal temperature where you get all or mostly females, and above and below that temperature you get males.

i do not believe it works this way :)

My last batch of pups were born in water that was 80 degrees farenheit and had 2m and 2f. After they were born i thought about the temp and decided to turn it up to 86 gradually over a couple of weeks. My female is now preggers again about half way there so now im waiting to see what she throws me this time. I know i wont be able to conclude anything from just 2 litters so will start keeping a record to see what happens.
