Does This Annoy you???

There are people like this in every hobby... like the tourists with all the best gear snow-plowing their way down the bunny slope; or the dork with the tassled leather jacket on his $25k Harley that has about 15 miles on it. They may have the cash to throw around, but at least we can look down our noses at them for being POSERS!

The sad thing is in the case of fishkeeping, live animals usually end up suffering.

Thats exatcly what im getting at! Posers who think they can keep living things when they know NOTHING of it and it dies/suffers as a result.

lol-i hate it when ppl come here to ask questions, then dont take any of the advice and keep having the same problems over and over and just dont get it! lol

It sucks that they kill some poor fish, but at least they usually give away the equipment in disgust shortly thereafter

yea this goes for pet keeping across the board.... people buy dogs cats reptiles birds fish... neglect them give them poor living conditions... my other hobby racing... the rich guy has all the fast stuff thinks hes the best thing ever and goes out and doesnt have a clue how to run tight lines.... a lot of people get fish even the wal mart family that gets the 29 gallon combo and throw whatever in there and neglect the fish... ive heard so many people buy goldfish and they die and they say well yea goldfish dont li ve very long... thats anyone can take a 20 cent feeder and make them go a long way people need to get responsible and some of the better fish stores in my area will not sell fish to people they dont feal confident will provide for the fish...... such as the people who throw red devils with oscars ... or the people who dont know what a water change or what nitrates are

Money isn't everything...might get you what you want at the time, but I bet you dunno jack about it when it comes down to it in this case.

One of my best friends and I were into fish when we were kids. I moved away to college and he got bored with it. Sold me his 75 gallon. About 10 years later he sees my tank, and how far along I had progressed in the hobby, and was blown away. He said, "that's what we always wanted out tanks to look like when we were kids."

So he gets back into it and is very OCD so he buys a 75, then a 58, then a 55 and then a 125 gallon. Well now he has too much going on to take care of it all. He just gives me the 55 (My Avatar). Sells the 75. Sells the 58. Buys a 37. Sells that. Buys a 220 and is now going strong with the 220 and the 125 and they look great....

What annoys me more are the people who come on here asking or looking for advice. Then are told to get/treat something and they say they can't afford to do it because they don't have the resouces to pay for it. The result is that the fish suffer because the owers are overextended. If they can't take care of emergent problems or basic day to day problems, like i have read on here numerous times, then maybe they should be looking at downsizing or get priorities more in line so when something does need to be purchased to help the fish it can be done. Either way, rich or poor, the fish get the bad outcomes they don't deserve.

I hear you. Like, "can I put an Oscar in a 20 gallon long?" Yeah for about 60 days....They want the big fish but can't afford the big tank and they get it anyway.

Or, someone recommends water changes and they aren't doing them and think they are not necessary. It's about the water, plain and simple...
