I'm going crazy, are these fish compatible?:nilly:

1 (or a pair) reticulated ray(s)
1 black ghost knife
1-3 fire eel(s)
1 SA/African lungfish (which is less aggressive?)
1-3 spotted gar(s)

I'd grow all the fish up together as babies and keep them well fed. I'll have dithers as well. Tank size is not an issue, these fish will be fine even as adults. What number of each fish do you think I should get? If this mix isn't okay which fish aren't compatible with each other?

Oh yeah, what would a good bottom feeder be for these fish? Twig catfish? I don't want plecos because they'd bother the ray and cories would get eaten.

THANKS!!:)

Sounds like a good mix, if it was me, I'd try it :) SA lungs are WAAAAY less aggressive, my africans are in tanks by themselves, whereas my two SAs both live in community tanks.

Twig cats are a type of pleco, and plus they'll get eaten. I'd use clown loaches or bigger doradid cats like Pseudodoras niger or Megalodoras "Irwini" urunoscopus.

you never know unless you try.
my african lung was in with many bottom dwelling fish. :)
as for bottom feeders.
try some species of catfish.

My african lung was fine with my bottom dwellers for two years...and then...CHOMP! and I was out one Irwini cat.

thanks guys, I'll try out the mix with a SA lung, but how many of each fish should I get?
I don't want a huge cat (I already have a rtc x tsn in another tank) or loaches, any other suggestions to help keep the bottom clean?

I'm starting to think synos or a raphael. I have a bullhead, but he doesn't help clean at all.
I don't know much about synos, but I'll find some info. What do you think the coolest kind of syno is? pics?

Rapheals are a good one. Syno. brichardi is a cool one.

I'm liking the syno eruptus, but I'm not sure how it will do in a pure freshwater tank with a ph between 6.5 and 7. Will it have a good life in this water if I slowly acclimate it?

I'm also thinking of adding a small school of pictus catfish, will they be okay with all the other fish?

Still want to know how many of each fish I should get.
