Ditto!!! This has happened, in my setup, both with Eheim (smooth) and Fluval ribbed hoses. Changing the hoses will not resolve this. It "is" bacterial build-up, but, it is harmless. In my tank, my fish actually eat this stuff as soon as it comes out.

The hoses are ribbed/corrugated so they don't loose shape, flatten or kink while making bends.
ya i just have an extra hose made up for my FX5's and run the house to the drain and turn it back on after the water change and filter maintenance pumps out more water but i just top off the tank and connect the tank hose!!!!
Great Idea !!! I tried that using a net....did not work. A filter sock is a smarter choice
Mine comes out just for a few seconds after restart, then it gets sucked into one of my filters or my overflow. really its gone within 5 minutes
Yes very annoying, love the filter sock idea, think the turtle might like it too much though.
What i do is when i'm cleaning the filter i stick a bucket under the hoses and while they can still suck water down i open them up and drain the crap into the bucket. Not as full proof and the filter sock though.

That Stuff is getting on my nerves!!!! Is still coming out the tank and floating around like crazy !
i have a fluval filter to not sure what modle without looking at it but it gets full of like mud must be crap i think
I don't know. It sound like it gets air inside the pushes it out....when it pushes the air out all that stuff comes right out and floats all day long !!!
