Hmmm. I would say no. They'll be fine for a while, but those RTC will eventually turn into brutes.

Is the 30" depth right the way to the top of the pool or is that with the water level down from the top a bit?

Ok, ok. Let me think on it and I'll see if I can think of a good filtration setup. Where is the pond going, more to the point what sort of space will it leave for filtration?
