These two RDs have bred before, not for me but for the person I got them from. I put them together and the male absolutely beat the female almost to death. I hurried and made this divider to seperate them. Im going to try to get them to breed through the divider. Does this look like a good setup for getting them to breed through the divider? Anything I can do to improve the setup please let me know, since this is my first try at this..

Thanks for any help

that looks really sturdy. i need to make one like that myself actually...
might want to put some stuff in the water to allow those wounds to heal properly on the female however. but yeah, i almost always separate my pairs of cichlids just in case one of them goes haywire. good luck and keep us up to date! :)

GL with the breeding mayb you should make a small hole the size of the smaller RD so that if he or she decides to go over he or she can go back over so taht it won't get beat up

They are too close in size to be able to cut a hole in the middle. I really wanted to know if those rocks on here side seem like a suitable place for her to lay her eggs? Should I try to put a pot up there or leave things like they are. I was hoping some people who had some experience of breeding through a divider could chime in and lemme know..

What you have there is fine. She'd spawn on the tank bottom if she had to. Throw a flower pot next to the divider on the males side, this may help with the breeding rituals as he'll have a surface to prepare also.

At first glance, it didnt look like the male on the left of the tank (Correct?) could fertilize the eggs on the rocks. But would he just spew milt all around the tank instead?

Judging by the sex organs on the fish is how I judged the one on the left a male. They have two different looking sex organs so I know they are male and female. Im pretty sure the one on the right is female. Her sex organ looks like one and she is pretty plump...
