Does this Silver Arowana look sick?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I know it has ich(white spot disease). I took a look at pics of fish with this disease, and it looks the same. I added some aquarium salt with the water change also(forgot to mention). I'm looking into a good ich medicine, does anyone have any suggestions? Also I read that water changes can help. Is this true, if so how often?

If there's anyone in NYC, and is willing to take it off my hands I'm willing to do so. I guess it's the best thing to do.

best decision. otherwise you would have to deal with cycling a tank, treating ich, adjusting pH, and keeping a fragile fish alive all at once. Try returning to store, might be easier. Try again when you get the hang of fish keeping. Shouldn't be too long with MFK at your side :)

Thanks alot onion. I would rather give it to an experienced aquarist with a big tank, but if not I'll return it.

Do you think the EBJD and blood parrot will be ok. They both seem alright now, other than the fact the blood parrot hasn't had much of an appetite. The EBJD is energetic and eats plenty.

they are ok for now. in a couple of days, if not hours, the ammonia will build up and they will get sick, then die. you NEED to cycle before anything else. it is VITAL

They will definately die? Ive been using nutrafin cycle, which says it makes it safe for fish during cycle. God I wish my lfs would have told me about the cycle process.

i don't trust any of those products. what you need more than anything is beneficial bacteria. they are what allow fish to live in an aquarium. fish produce ammonia, which in turn kills fish, burns their gills, etc...

if you introduce a few fish, or another source of ammonia (like rotting shrimp, for example), into a tank, and let a colony of bacteria slowly build up, you will have a properly cycled tank. Either do a fishless cycle or use a few small hardy fish (like 6-7 zebra danios)

this is a shorthand description of the whole process. look up threads on cycling

what about bio spira everyone seems to say it works?
