What if you framed something around the top like a trim that was tall enough to hide the light but completely open at the top. It could sit on the edges of the tank leaving the middle open. Might accomplish both objectives.

That was kinda my thought to.

This, I've done that and turned out pretty well. Have used both 1x4 and 1x6 to make the "trim" on 2 different tanks.

Vote NO...that being said the tank should be coverd rays are worth way to much, I use plexie glass to cover mine but you could also go with a pannels of reg glass, but with the way that tank sits in the pic i think the "open top" concept looks sharp!

I think a really short canopy would be nice, maybe make it in two pieces so that way you could take part of it off for maintenance, hinged even. Just tall enough to hide everything on top.

The openings are covered with plexie glass already. Have to have that because of the Aro in the tank. Ill always have to keep it that way so he doesnt get spooked and jump out.

Voted No.... I have build going on and wouldnt want to get a canopy done. Although, a trim around the tank is what im thinking of. Nice tank u got there. Just get the light fixture and ur done... Good luck..
