im always seeing people with huge tanks put tile in them and it looks great but would it look just as good in a smaller tank such as a 55 gallon? does any have tile in their smaller tanks that i can see pictures of to get an idea of if i may like it or not and what kind of tile should i use if i did use tile i heard slate but then someone said it has a lot of iron and may leach into the water?

If you like the look in large tanks you probably will like the look in smaller tank. Give it a go and post some pics.

Post pics. I remember someone saying four 12x12 tiles fit perfectly into a 55gal. I have a bare bottom 55 that i may tile soon. I went with black marble tile in my 180

I had 3-4 four slate tiles in my 55 for awhile, it didn't look bad. Turds would go to the cracks between tiles an I just sucked them out with a tube while doing w/c.

I used marble but slate looks more natural. Ive heard slate can raise the ph so just keep an eye on that. Nice looking tile, looking forward to see it in the tank.
