My dats hide in the darkest spot of the tank ALL DAY long.
They only swim at night, and are only stable at night/feeding.

exactly the same with my indos, always hiding in the dark. so i put them in a tank with white background & light sand for substrate... didn't help one single bit! (so dont try that) :grinno:

The smaller the datnoide, the more nervous or scared it will be. The larger the dat is, the more secure it feels and therefore will swim around with lights on or off. I have never seen a large dat that is scared of light.

:grinyes: It just takes time. Sometimes a long time. Once they get bigger they will feel less nervous and will be out more.

How big are yours?
Mine are 4''
I have a black background, and everyone says get a blue or white background.

It's kinda boring, look at my tank and see no fish swimming.
I've actually considered getting rid of them. :(
