very good point to check ...rmorse;2871318; said:Vet as others have been saying.
Before you go, check its teeth. My dog stopped eating, and it was because he had chipped a tooth, and it got all infected, so it hurt him too much to eat.

this week he felt extremely skinny and i could feel every bone in his little body. OK, now im worried!
well today i finally figured out how to get him to eat. i have to actually sit on the floor with him and hold his food bowl while he eats, and encourage him the whole time. and he will only eat the soft food, i tried mixing it with his normal food but he will pick through every piece and drop all the hard food on the ground.
i find this very strange but atleast he's eating. we are soon getting another dog so that he can have a friend again, guess well see if things get better then.
you have a right to your opinion... and your opinion may be right.. i just think he should check out and make sure nothing else is wrong first...then another dog would be a plus...vaine111;2871426; said:i think if you get another dog he will be fine. but who am i?

Red Devil;2871105; said:i would definitly get a trip to the vet just to make sure there is no blockage.. is he pooping.... i would hold off on getting the new dog until this problem is resolved since the stress of new companion may make matters worse...Is the new one a puppy or dog? You may have to give some vitamins... too..
Sounds like he will be fine... i am feeling alot more relieved that you mentioned that he was passing stools okay... you are probably right.. just emotional.. thank goodness..dmopar74;2873123; said:yes he's pooping. last night i fed him way too much food as i was happy to get him to eat, needless to say i found myself wathcing him poop all day long today. he happily eats "treats", like french fries and such. he's acting alot better now that i got him to eat. he's always been a neurotic dog, and i think his nerves got the best of him. whithin a months time we moved and got rid of our cats, so its been a little hectic lately but is calming down. we still have a couple months till we get another dog. we will visit the vet as well.
