I walked in the kitchen and looked at my pond through the window. I found one of my dogs in the pond trying to get out. Naturally I freaked out because i was worried about my dog. I don't know how long she was in there. After i took her out. I see that my Lilly Pad are shredded, my Umbrella Plant was knocked into the pond. The filter was knocked over, the Anarcharis pot was knocked upside down with all the substrate spilling out, and the water pump wasn't working. AAAARRRRGH!!!

Oh that stinks. Hope you get everything back to normal. Any chance she could have ripped the liner?

Nope...I guess that's the good news. My mom suggested that I buy a kiddie pool for my dogs cuz she thinks that the dog jumped in there on purpose, but I think she just wanted a drink and fell in. It's an above ground pond so my dog was actually stuck.

On a local forum here in Israel, one pond owner recently reported that in addition he lost all his fish within 24 hours after a similar incident. The reason was that the dog was wearing a fairly new flea/tick collar and the box even states that it is poisoness to fish.

So be glad your dog didn't have anew flea collar on :)

I heard in Israel it can be very hot during day and "cold' at night in other words big temp swings. Is it hard keeping a pond like that ?

I do know they have KOI farms there that import in the United States but imagine huge ponds

No major problems. We almost never get freezing, and this past winter the lowest I hit was 3c in Jan and the hottest my pond hit was 29c last August. No more temp swings than you would find in California.

Many people here have ponds, and we have the exact same issues everyone has - anyplace in the world.

We have a yearly competition for nicest pond:

Those are so far the competitors for 2008.
