is that a bowfin?

That's what I was asking. Its a little hard for me to tell on my puny phone screen and if its not a snakehead I don't see why it had to be killed.

Its a bowfin. Those are good fish unlike snakehead.

Lol,so what was it's crime?

If you're looking for attention then you are going to get it, but please tell me you did not just wantonly kill this bowfin. Many anglers are under the assumption that these fish deplete "sporting" fish stocks. This is a huge misconception. Bowfin do eat fish of all kinds but also eat large amounts of invertebrates too. Please educate yourself before doing something like this in the future.

Although I don't support the fact of killing native fish, he could have ment by burial at sea was he used it as bait for swordfish or other sport fish. Snakeheads and bowfins make great bait for swordfish oddly enough. Again I don't support the killing of native fish and I don't want to start any arguments but i do see the fishing side of it if he didnt catch any snakeheads

That all falls under accompanying the photos with enough information to be completely understood.

I have no respect for fisherman who kill fish and throw them back

You've hit the nail mostly on the head.
I thought the fish was rather cool, just cause it was so big.
Rest of the fishing party falls under the assumptions about depleting sport stock you mentioned. As it was not my boat nor catch I stayed out of the ensuing argument about what to do with it.

So, end all. "I" did nothing, though the statements about its fate were accurate.
