Dog Owners I need some help FAST !! Pit Problems..

I need help bad !! would really like to hear from PIT OWNERS too!! I don't want you to think i'm a pit hater..

Well here's the story..
I came home yesterday to hear my kids tell me that some scrawny male pit has been haging around lately and jumping fences in the neighborhood.. Well my 6 year old son was taking my 2 dogs out to pee (on leashes eventhough our yard is fenced:screwy:) and this pit comes racing under my neighbors fence over mine and into my yard and rushes my black lab, bit her back(not bad, no blood or puncture wounds) and my son had to yank on the leash to get her away from him..
I came home yesterday from work to scope out the yard and let my dogs out myself.. I see no pit so i let my girls out.. Again the bastard comes racing under the fence across the neighbors yard, over my fence and rushes my dogs.. This time i was ready maglight and 2x4 in hand.. Needless to say he high tailed it out of my yard and jumped the 4' Fence in my backyard.. He keeps coming back into my yard... I've drove the one street a block away from my house to find out who owns this dog with zero luck..

Well i called 911 and Animal control and they tell me being he's skittish and i can't catch him they can't really do much and to keep my kids and dogs inside.. Mind you my yard IS FENCED... So now my kids and dogs are now a hostage inside our own house..:irked:

So now the big question... What do i do now ?? If the dog show's much more aggression, and i can't keep him outta my yard i'm gonna shoot it !!! Am i wrong ???
 
Did you tell animal contro that it has attacked your dog? They should get thier fat @$$ up get!
 
What about trying to win the trust of the dog by feeding him. Once you gain his trust then you can catch him and maybe find out who owns him?? Is it possible he is a stray??
 
Just a thought, not sure if this is legal or not, so don't do it without looking into it or calling animal control, but would it be possible to get some tranquilizer and just do the job of animal control yourself? If they're not gonna do it then somebody has to. I'd say shooting it is a bad idea, although it might seem like the only possibility, in the event that it is somebody's dog they might press charges. Not saying I agree with it, but it has happened.
 
yea tranquilizer i think are big time illegal. Unless you make your own. but good idea
 
well thats crappy of the police and animal control. if he came into my yard again, i personally would be waiting with the 12 guage. i'm not going to risk the lives of my dogs, and more importantly, YOUR KIDS because of loose pit and lazy law enforcement and animal control.

i would call again, record the phone call so you have proof that they didnt want to anything about it. that way if you have to shoot the animal, you can prove that you tried all other means and nobody would do anything about it.

I did tell animal control and the officer that called me back both what happened.. They told me that being the dog is skittish it would just run from them too.. (No kiddin:screwy:) Then told me they couldn't do anything that night anyway being they were off duty in a half hour..:irked: I think that's what put me over the edge besides this dog pestering my family..

The dog does have a collar with tag on it but i can't even come outside and that dog halls balls now.. guess he's having flash backs of me coming at him with a mag light and 2x4..lol.. So needless to say i think the trust thing is gone between the 2 of us..
