Yeah dont shoot it, esp if it has tags.... thats someone elses loved pet even if its a pain in the rear end for you. Last thing you want is them coming at you because you shot their dog. Ontop of that if your dogs and kids have no damage.... I would think it would be hard to say the dog attacked first. I do agree that the dog could be dangerous however if it bit your dogs back and didnt draw blood I dont think it means any business killing or hurting your dogs.... if it was able to bite your dogs back then it could have drew blood if it really wanted too imo... but it didnt. I would do whatever you can without hurting the dog.
but it did attack, twice. just because it didnt kill anything or draw doesnt mean it wasnt an attack

what i would do is take one dog out with you and another guy and be ready for this dog. pits are small dogs they aren't man-stoppers. just crack it in the face with the 4x2 or beat it with a bat. f' that.. its your yard, your dogs, your kids....you are the law-abiding citizen.

we have a very nasty dog if i could, i would just lend her to you to take care of everything

you are dead wrong. that dog entered their fenced in yard and bit their dog. if something bit my dog i would kill it it.

and if that dog is owned by a person, then that person is a piece of crap doing nothing to further the negative stereotype of these dogs.

real pitbulls are great dogs with a bad wrap. they are dog-aggressive but this dog is just nuts. i would put an end to this dog be it a pit, hound, husky, whatever.

nothing comes before you and your family (your dogs are your family).

I personally own the breed and support the apbt very much so. this is why the dogs get a bad rap somebody cant control their dog its not the breed for everyone. If it is a true apbt your dog would have been dead most likely but it would never hurt your children if it came into my yard and bit my dog i would kill it. Hate to say it.

If a dog came in my yard attacked my dog and I had to beat it to get it off then yes I would kill it. But if a dog came in, bit my dog(no damage mind you) then ran off. What's the sense in hunting it down and killing it? The dog could have seriously hurt your dog if it had been serious about that bite. This dog is taking the option to run so I just don't get chasing is down and killing it. Just stay on animal control's case or catch it. Gather some neighbors if you need to, I'm certain others have seen it running around and may be concerned as well.

Its a tough call, but when it comes down to it. Its a threat to your child, pet, and peace of mind. Even if you took action and shot the dog (not saying thats the best course of action), then the owner mysteriously showed up and tried to sue you. Its negligence on their part for not having their animal on the leash and in addition you tried other methods. Such as animal control, which is pitiful that they wouldn't do their job because they were 30 min to getting off.

I had a similar experience with a raccoon coming after my dog, a 20lb bichon. I immediantly picked up my dog and literally punted the raccoon with all my might about 20-30ft. I put my dog inside and checked to see if the raccoon was alive. I'll save you the gruesome details, but it was dead. Not that the raccoon was someones pet, but sometimes you got to take action in order to protect yourself and pets.

my dog is part pit and loves to get out if she can, BUT being a responsible owner ive built friggin fort knox with crazy $$$ to keep my dog in, who is also one of the nicest dogs ever. if another owner cant contain their dog and it is physically attacking my property/loved ones i would shoot it dead without a thought.
