Dog people help! Rabid dog in my yard, how long can rabies live on grass?

Well, the dog was teetering and looked really confused and had a golf ball-sized lump of foam building up and dripping off his nose. Seemed like it could be so I'd rather be safe than sorry.

What did it do when the children came and claimed it?

Ask who? The vanishing mexican kids who ran off into the horizon like I was border patrol?! They took off. I have no idea how I could even find them without having the local news channel beg for them to step forward out of the population.


When they picked it up it sort of wiggled aimlessly and its eyes rolled in its head. Then they ran. That's all I've got.

But hey, it's been a few days so my yard is safe by now. Thanks for all the helpful ideas and comments.
