Good news bad news,

Good: We found a Chihuahua!
Bad: No one is missing him, we checked Bi-Law and humane society
Good: We get to keep him!

We took him to the vet, they check if anyones missing him and no they aren't,
so he remains our dog, and now he looks to be solidly ours!

He had a wierd scab on his neck that wouldn't heal up when we got him
and it was moving under the skin,

Turns out he was bitten by a Cuterebra and the larvae had already hatched and
grown under his skin, and were essentially...eating him.

They took them out, and the dog is fine now.

I won't post pics, mainly because I can't really find any
on google, but seriously, it looks like something
off the movie ALIEN.

I just thought some of you guys might like Weird gross crap like this hahaha.

Similar parasites are found all over. I know of a preserve manager, whenever they run a deer check station they show the hunter all the common internal parasites in the deer. I hope to someday learn this skill from them.

All wild animals have parisites, and even you may. (you just don't know it.) A good book on the subject is Parasite Rex by Carl Zimmer.

I do agree though, finding somthing like that is very nasty yet also iteresting.

glad the dog made it..

id take captivity by someone who knows what they are donig ANY day!!!!

interesting, the more common bot here goes for equis species and it lays eggs on the hair. They do bite but with the pupose of irritating the skin so the horse/donkey/ass/zebra licks the skin ingesting the eggs for incubation. I have seen what the damage bots can do internally and internal parasites are very nasty and can be lethal if not dealt with. Another thing is, many parasites are immune to most of the treatments so its important to know what you are treating for, how you are treating, if its effective and if it worked.

i hate little dogs
