Doh. I just bought 7 Flowerhorns

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
If you have the money and space, go with the 75. Its 18" deep, which will be good when your fh grows bigger. The 55 is only 13", which will be a little tight for your fish to turn. I went thru what you are going thru now.

Later on, you will go with show quality and want quality over quantity because you will get tired of taking care of the fish and it seems like its work rather than a hobby.

So what you are saying is you are on step two of the addiction process? I have some 125s when they get bigger. It was stupid to get that many fish at one time. The reason that I bought so many is because I got a great deal on some low quality females. I figured they would be perfect to learn how to breed with. If they die from aggression or I screw something up its no biggie. I have two high quality males that I plan to keep. I have one trash mail inc, but my wife saw a picture and loved it. The red monkey was purchased for the personality. I'm not much worried about the looks on the monkey, because most of them are ugly anyhow. I'm not big into the show thing. In the long run I want nice FHs that are good quality though. I went through the buy the best show thing with my english bulldogs. Very expensive and stupid decision that I wont repeat. I will probably buy some more FHs down the line, but I'm only spending a few hundred on each one. Any more than that then I start to get paranoid about the fish not looking healthy etc. It kind of takes the fun out of it when you are worried about an expensive fish. I shouldn't have bought that many at one time, but 2 of the fish were freebies, so I couldn't beat free. Hopefully I learn from my mistakes, but probably not. I actually enjoy cleaning my tanks, but I have only been back in the hobby for a year or so. Im sure I will get tired of it soon. Its kind of a nice departure from my desk job :)
