If you are treating Quick Cure then chances are it killing you biofilter. Thats probably why you are seeing ammonia.

i am NOT a newb..... been raising fish for 9 years.. well been raising fish RIGHT for 5 years.. i have no friends that i can get bio media from.... now im regreting making this thread.. i am gunna put some more bio media in there that i have laying around. and get some new ones this weekend.

just treated the tank tonight. havnt had issues with sickness in a long time.

Well then any bacteria you had in your tank will be gone if you don't dose correctly. Even then it could be damaged. I use CopperSafe because it won't damage it.

$7-8 for the smallest bottle. About $16-20 for the big container.

jeez. any other chemical thats like coppersafe but not to expensive?

Not that I know of except salt. Any of the other chemicals can damage you biofilter.
