Hello Everyone,

I have one question, and one question only right now. If I were to put a Dojo Loach in with a Senegal Bichir, would the Bichir eat the Loach?

Thanks,
Shane

it matters how big ur senegal is

dojos are a pretty fast fish

i had one myself it jumped out while i was at school and lived for 5 more days until it jumped out again and died

Well, may I ask, what is the largest Dojo Loach I could possibly get? Seeing how the Senegal, while a slow grower (which I intend on getting them when they are like, 2.5") I know that if it can fit in its mouth it can be eaten. I've heard Dojos being anywhere from 8"-14". What sounds more realistic to you?

Shane

The largest dojo (M. anguillicaudatus) I have ever seen was just under 10". It was about as big around as my thumb. I have seen weatherfish (M. fossilis) a little bigger but not much. Most of either that I have seen have been closer to 8".

Well then, a weather loach. Do you think that a normal sized Senegal Bichir would pose much of a threat?

Shane

I have not kept the bichirs except ropefish so can't be sure.

Dojos are used as feeders in Japan and Korea. They don't grow too big. I used to catch them in the wild when I was a kid and never saw one bigger than 11".

So I suppose that Weather/Dojo Loaches would not fair too well in a 75 Gallon with 2 Senegals then huh? Oh well...got my hopes up in keeping a few of these guys. Anyway, thanks alot!

Shane, :)

PS...If anyone can tell me different I would greatly appreciate the information. The only reason I decided to ask before anything was that Senegals get 12" max usually in Aquaria, but Weather/Dojo Loaches, well...I've heard their max is anywhere from 4"-14". I just needed some comfirmation on the max size of the loaches. Thanks again!

Don't you mean, "can anyone tell me what I want to hear?"
