Dolphin Hammerhead Sharks?!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I would love to have a paroon or an ID shark they are one of my favorite catfish but I know I could never house one when it got older. I see them at my LFS constantly and am sooo tempted to get one, but I resist because that would be irresponsible of me. ): Is there any catfish that looks similar to them that I could get but is on a smaller scale?

Thanks for all the responses, sounds like it most likely is a paroon shark. In regards to tank size, obviously people do keep these in tanks, anyone got any and if so what size of tanks. in regards to terrapins outside in scotland, we have a few wild ones around here someone had released a few years back that have survived so I have no doubt mine will be ok, they are in a tank at the moment with water around 20 degrees and are fine, i tooke the heater out a month ago to slowly get them used of change in water temp, and there will be a heater in the pond, I am hoping to keep the water around 15 - 20 degrees.

Don't do it! Find them a new home, not in the wild.

We have a couple of members keeping large paroons. One is in a 900gal and the other is in a 2400gal.

In regards to placing your turtles in a pond; ...if the pond is outdoors, it must be an earthen pond to allow the turtles a place to dig in and hibernate once the seasons change. And, they must be outdoors for the warm months leading up to the time they'll look to burrowing in for the winter. If they're not in conditions where they sense the seasonal changes, they're instincts won't kick in to bulk up before the onset of winter.

what species of terrapin are they? I never seem to see red ears anymore only yellow bellys and heating a pond to over 10 where temps can drop too well below 0 is going to be expensive.

Depending on the turtle species they could easily survive the winters there. We have quite a few native species here in the US that are able to hibernate through the winters in the north even when the ponds are iced over for months at a time.

African glass cats look almost exactly like ID's to me, and they only get to around 3".

Yeah, I was already looking at getting some for my 35g. I looove them so much. Do you think I could keep one or two angels in there with them?
