Dolphin Whale- Petrocephalus bane

they USUALLY don't do well at all in captivity they are hard to get to eat

but when you get one that eats well for you they can get up to 16in. I believe and I do know that they tend to be fairly territorial thats with anyfish not just with other dolphins

i acutally have incredible good luck with the fish in the genus mormyrus, its all about giving them theri own tank to get accustomed to before adding tankmates. i have one that i actually have way less than fish savvy people taken care of, and hes doing great. i think they are way underated

Whats the downlow on the mormyrus species? Tempermental? Tank mate tolerant? Water parameters? How much was the mormyrus and can they ship by any chance? ~Trent

I agree, very wierd. Where are they from?

they hail from africa, this particualr species (Mormyrus Kannume or Mormyrus Longistriosis) is also found in the african great lakes and reaches a size of 32-40"s. they anrt particularly agressivem but they will defend their territoiry. they will also beat the lving SH*t out of any other mormyrus species, they use a form of electirc navigation to get around and find food. they dont seem over fussy about water params but do need pristine water and good hiding place to rtetreat to during the day. think of them as an exponentialy more fragile elephant nose. ive only EVER in just about 8 years of fishkeeping seen 1 in person, and i snatched him up as soon as i saw him. he came in as a contamiant in the elephant noses and cost me $29. ive had him about 6 months now and he has shown no noticable growth. he ate frozen bloodworms as soon as he went into the tank. whcih he shares with a school of 13 tiger barbs who know to stay out of his way. hes actually 3000 miles from me in maryland in the care of my family out there until hes big enuff to come home, to cali. again, i have tremdous luck with these fish, as in ive never lost a mormyrid. definetly one of the less apreciated african fishes.

while im at it heres a few pics of my little guy
