There was a popular urban legend years ago about this hobbyists keeping a dolphin
in a swimming pool converted into a tank. If ever there was any truth to that, then it wouldve been these fw dolphins.

They are curious creatures they are, being freshwater dolphins. I was able to see some while visiting Venezuela. They had a few of them at the public aquarium in Valencia including a newborn, adorable lil fella! According to the keepers, they were the only folks in the world that have been able to breed them in captivity.

But I wouldn't advise keeping one at home!

There was only one zoo in the US to try and keep them, and they have stopped because it just wasn't working.

The main pool at the Dallas World Aquarium was designed specifically to house them. But, after it was built, they chose not to aquire them just because they are too sensative an animal. They zoos down there do amazing work with them.
