Done with Fire eels......

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Why why why such Sadness with fire eels. I had hope for someone to keep one of these and really enjoy it and then this. This keeps telling me my wish of owning one is not looking good. So sorry for your loss. I figured the large ones would be easier. But as they say In the rules of eels you have to at least two pvc pipes for them to hide in when needed.

you can't figure out how he got IN the biotower?

Dam I don't get it with eels, I know it common in small tanks but your tank is way bigger then the tanks usually posted about eels jumping out. Theres a guy over in the saltwater thread that has a 5-6 green moray eel that would live in his open top tank never wanting to jump out. Maybe its just saltwater....idk eels are just weird!

Thanks Everyone....

I guess over the mesh through the bulkhead....

I spoke to the guy who built my tank, he said he can design something to make it eel proof..... we shall see what he comes up with

:( that is so sad, I am so sorry. I need to eel proof my tank some more before mine abandons ship as well.

Do it... I have lost 3 over the last year or so, 2 14 inchers and this big guy... One wound up in a canister filter and survived, to later grow bigger and get stuck in the hose.....

What's with them jumping? I've owned 3 fire eels and currently still have 2 (18"+ & 14") One got killed by a *****y dempsey.. But I have never had an issue with them trying to get out of their tank. The only expensive fish I've had jump was a silver aro and luckily I was there every time he jumped (6 times) (one time shat on my rug)

Any research done towards a cause?
