http://www.aqualandpetsplus.com/Aqua LA.htm Heres a short page on himself and you can see how old he is. Most of his information is outdated because he has been in the industry so long. Good reliable keeping of herps hasn't really picked up till the past decade or two. Cut the guy a break, atleast his page is better then those care sheets at commercial petstore chains.

The iguana with the mixed bag of salad was a joke, a poor one. But, it wasn't eating the plastic...
actually my local petco has kinda extensive booklets they make you take home and read if they feel your not ready before you buy the animal. sadly, they have green iguanas at my petco but they are all extremely well takin care of and half the people i met there are local breeders and know what there talking about. ive read almost all the booklets and its all good info. they actually kinda try and talk you out of the iguanas and columbian red tail boas.

I like aqualand. Not so much for the info put for the extensive pictures. The guy there is really old school about his care and you can tell but he is very open to people correcting his info. I remember he wrote a caresheet on mice and it was basically about using them as feeders. One lady got offended and he let her write a proper caresheet on keeping mice as pets. I thought that was nice. I definatly wouldn't go there for primary info though.

@HIPIZZlE- maybe at your petco but all my petco has are those paper caresheets they have on the website which are utter pieces of crap. None of the basking lizards have proper uvb and they always have 2in crix with 3in leopard geckos and you can tell those who have been bitten. I remember one time I was there and some guy ordered fish and the employee dropped one of the little catfishe on the floor and just walked away . Luckily I was there to pick the little guy up and put him back in the tank. Poor little guy...

Your pretty lucky then, on the rare occasions I go to petstore chains they're animals are in horrible condition and they hand you a single page of basic info.

Agreed. I love reading the caresheets though. Their soo funny. Whoever actually writes them have a sense of humor.

The guy in my previous link writes a majority of the care sheets.

Aqualand probably shouldn't be your ONLY source when researching an animal, but it's certainly not bad. It's amazing how few people get that so much stuff on there is joking. The fish care sheets usually aren't GREAT, but their Herp ones sre pretty good. And to the OP, how are Reptile leashes bad? And how could they asphixiate a Reptile? Don't they go around the shoulders like a harness?

The problem is that 90% of the iguanas you will find dont like leashes at all, they will go into iguana from hell mood and they do "death roll" to get rid of the leash, your going to endup with a all tagled up iguana or even worse. Ive herd of iguanas actually breaking their spine in doing that. NOT GOOD STUFF. Asfictiation is also a possibility. Leashes are ok if you have a HUGE, BABY TAME and REALLY CALM adult iguana, but the funny part is that with such a gentle creature you dont actually need a leash, Ive seen iguanas so tame they dont actually go far from their owners. And iguanas have parts of their anatomy like the dewlap that are very delicate unlike for example a tegu. Tegus for the average pet owner are a much better reptile to use a leash on. But even then I dont recomend walking them on a public place like you would with a dog, besides creating bad people reactions your exposing your lizard to all sorts of waste and dangers.

I agree with Coura in the fact that a reptile leash should only be used on larger very tame lizards. I tried it on my small tegu and he did exactly what coura said, rolled and the leash came off. Took him outside and he got really freaked it will take time for him to get used to both being outside and being on a leash. I do understand Iguanas are more unpredictable than tegus so I agree it would be much riskier to use a leash on anything but the tamest of Iguanas.

wow it looks like i can actually get an iggy after reading that!

seriously...theres a reason i havnt and its because i know its alot more difficult than that
x

Yeah that web site isn't that great. I think they recpmmend a 55g as a minimum for a gar............

really?^ wow. that will kill a gar or at least severly stunt it and shorten its life
