I took my heater out cause it had a crack and it started sparking in my had so I threw it onto a bucket at this was the outcome

It wasn't hot I was trying to but it was sparking and I threw it on the lid

my heater looked exactly the same when I did a WC and forgot to turn it off...

my fault, not the heaters...

Fluval puts out pretty pretty good heaters..I know a couple local keepers that will only use their heaters. Unless the heater is titanium with auto shut off, always make sure is unplugged for at least thirty seconds

I never unplug equipment when I mess in my tank/sump. but that doesn't mean its the right thing to do... BUT if I saw something had a fault/was broken/etc then I would definitely unplug it before I took it out, common sense really I would think. why are you surprised that something made of glass, that was already cracked, broke more when thrown onto something solid? I have the same heater barring maybe wattage, has served me well for over a year.

It was cracked and rusting inside I didn't think it worked at all until I saw it sparking in my hand
