Dont feed spiders!

The most potent toxin known in the world is derived from a shell fish I believe. It's called tetradotoxin. If you get shot with a dart filled with this you will be dead before you know that you've been hit.

Today i fed my fish a spider that was walking on the floor of my basement...after a couple of seconds in the tank i'm like wait don't all spiders have venom, so i quickly netted out the spider and flushed it don't the sink.... Thats so wierd that i saw this post right now what a coinky dink

thank God i didn't let the fish eat the spider

the most venomus spider is the dady long leg , it teeth just aint long nuff to infect and to small amount of venom
This has been disproven several times. There are two creatures that are called daddy longlegs.
The first is not even a true spider and has no venom producing organs or fang carried digestive protiens at all. They are the opilipnes, notice only two eyes and no cephalathorax.
The other is the Pholcidae, or cellar spiders, they have small venom glands that produce weak toxins, 6-8 eyes, spinnerettes, and a cephalothorax. Their venom is several times less toxic than that of a wolf spiders, let alone a blackwidow's. They have fangs that can reach living tissue through the outerskin in areas tha are not callused. the bites leave small reddish welts that itch for a while and then fade away. Most recently the venom was tested and compared to that of blackwidows on the show "Mythbusters" and the fangs were measured. The relative weakness of the venom was once again confirmed.

it takes a big person to admit when they are wrong :( JK we all make mistakes man that is one of the biggest myths there was and not alot of people know the truth.. :)

I hate spiders. I will continue to feed them to my fish or anything else that will eat them.

I've heard that about daddy long legs, too, and I originally believed it, so add another to list of the converted. I would never feed spiders to my fish, though. Only moths that get loose in the house. Most of the time, I'll catch the big spiders and put them outside to keep other critters out.

It depends on the spider, some can be very hazerdous to your fish. Also, if you had any bug killing agent in your house that the spider may have walked though, that could have been the cause too. So, never feed wild caught bugs to your fish...

Jen ;)

We have small children, so we do not spray poisions, that's why we have spiders and on occasion cricketts. We live out in the boonies, in the middle of a pasture, so we get all kinds of critters, usually any small bug is fair game for them. I guess it was the type of spider that killed my O.
