jersey has been hit with massive amounts of rain and my basement floods and i lost a 180 gal when the stand broke. i was able to save my aro who was occasionaly flopping in a puddle of water by a floor drain. aro is now unhappy in a 75 gal and i'm unhappy cause i lost the tank
don't keep big tanks with wooden stands in the basement

That sucks big time bro! I have all my tanks in my basement on wooden stands, including my 220g. I think I'm pretty safe from flooding though. I'm up on a hill and I haven't noticed a single drop of water in the basement no matter how hard it's rained. I have to admit, you've got me thinking about it...
That really sucks. Before iwas into keeping tanks, my basement flooded resulting in the loss of a pool table, carpet, a wall, and a BUNCH of other stuff. But, we did get a bunch of cool new stuff. There was over a foot of water down there.
Wow that sucks.All my tanks are on wooden stands in the basement,I put them up on tile or slate to get them off the floor which helped in the recent minor flood.But its only about 1/2 wouldnt help in a big flood
