jersey has been hit with massive amounts of rain and my basement floods and i lost a 180 gal when the stand broke. i was able to save my aro who was occasionaly flopping in a puddle of water by a floor drain. aro is now unhappy in a 75 gal and i'm unhappy cause i lost the tank

That sucks big time bro! I have all my tanks in my basement on wooden stands, including my 220g. I think I'm pretty safe from flooding though. I'm up on a hill and I haven't noticed a single drop of water in the basement no matter how hard it's rained. I have to admit, you've got me thinking about it...

it was the first time the basement flooded in three years and the stand was made of 4x4's

Im sorry for your loss......

That is my worst nightmare!

Good Luck, you had insurance, Right???

Wow that sucks. All my tanks are on wooden stands in the basement,I put them up on tile or slate to get them off the floor which helped in the recent minor flood. But its only about 1/2 wouldnt help in a big flood
