Hi Rob,
Here are some new UK guideline prices, you can do the conversersion before phoning around...
2217 £75 (inc. sponge media)
2028 £110 (inc. sponge & bio media)
2080 £190 (inc. media)
2260 £160 (excluding media)

I don't think you shall get any great deals on the Pro3 simply because, like Fluval's FX5, it's a relatively new product. 2260 I'm also not sure. EBay regularly has 2217's and 2028's.

seems like i can get a 2217 for about $133 USD...

That seems to be a good price, all things considered I would go for that if I were you. Decent output / media volume, low power comsumption, very quiet and Eheim's reliability compared to anyone else.

well it seems like everywhere i look the rena cant compair to the Eheim... and for the 133 it comes with media..

how many of my HOB filters could i eliminate with the 2217?

Sorry, I am unfamiliar with HOB filters, can you give me some details...

here are the specs on it. and i am running 2 of these currently....

Certified Flow: 330 gph
Rated for aquariums up to 55 gallons.
UL listed

Size:
14 ¼" long x 5" wide x 7 ½" high

Buy the 2217

If you are worried about bio (you shouldn't be) take 1 of the Penguins and remove the Cartridges, fill the cartridge area with bio media,

Bio Balls

I Use Fluval Biomax

Then you will have a self contained bio filter in HOB form.

a 2217 on a 75 should be fine, but there is not thing as overfilteration.

I Have a 2217 on my 55 with 2 AC 110's

Just MHO........

i was more wirried about not having enought mechanical filtration with just the 2217...

i figured the bio filtration from the 2217 should be plenty... right???

alright well i guess im going to get the ehiem 2217.... hope it works out well.. if anyone knows if i can eliminate 1 or both of my HOB filters please let me know. thanks
Rob
