ya... sorry for your lost man.. I actually used 409 the other day on a paper towel.. but next time i'll def make sure to not get anything into the water.. or window car cleaners instead....
 
thats sucks dude i would run some carbon in your filter during the cycling once you set it up again just to grab and toxic material that might be left.
 
I don't know that it's safe really.. but when I was a kid I always cleaned the glass and hoods with Simple Green and never lost a fish to it. I wasn't exactly careful, I'm sure I contaminated the water in at least a few tanks (I was about 7, didn't know better) and it's what I use still- more carefully. It does a good job though, and it's the safest cleaner I know of for birds, small animals, people, etc.
 
just rinse your gravel and filter media.... no need to replace it... flush it with some water... its not like she dumped a whole bottle in there...
