yeah, the cat had lived with them for nearly a month before that.

im gonna try a pleco but am unsure what size pleco for the size of my p's, wud a large pleco try to eat small p's?

Piranhas are really unpredictable like that. And if you miss a day of feeding or something, they will eat whatever is in there with them. Plecos can't eat them. The worst they could to would be to try and suck their slime coat off but I don't think the piranhas would let that happen anyways. All plecos do is suck algae of things.

just get a 3 or 4 inch pleco and give it a place to hide and they should leave it alone, that's what mine do anyway i got 2 roughly 4 inch red bellies and a 4 inch pleco

If you really want you pleco to have a good shot at living:
1. get a pleco that's 2-4" bigger then your piranhas (or larger, I went with a 11" to go with my 6" rbp)
2. make sure you include some hiding spots(driftwood, and a pleco cave)
3. Try to remember to feed your Piranhas often(especially when you first add the pleco)

How horrible. That is truly frightening.

I also have a raphael cat and a common pleco in my tank that have one small nip in each of their fins, but other than that they dont get bothered, might as well not even get a raphael, the only time I see him is when I clean my tank.

I wouldn't be so sure. Those mouths can destroy some pretty tough plants and veggies, not just algae..
I've never seen a pleco EAT another fish but they sure can strip scales with a good bite. I've also seen aggressive plecos stress and harass fish that eventually bailed the tank so make sure that lid is secure.
Granted, I've only seen maybe 3 that ever caused such problems with anything that wasn't another pleco or catfish.

I'm too scared to put anything with the rbps, lol. I want to try my 4-5" striped raph cat with a shoal of 1inchers, tough as nails that one, but I'd feel terrible if anything happened to a tank mate I forced in there. Someday if I have a really huge tank I'll try, heh. ;)
