Really? It's just a wild snake...doesn't mean the kids will be psychos in future. And no need to throw them in jail.

I went to these kids' profile page and it appeared that they have pets and Brandon also rescued a baby raccoon. Looks like Brandon is a hunter as well which can be explained the nail gun on the snake....

I too, shamefully used a nail gun on a nasty rat but at last he got killed on first shot instantly.

The best part was even the original poster jumped in on the discussion

I more meant that it's not an ethics debate or an argument. I dont mind replies because it keeps the thread floating around a bit so people see the thread longer and no one helps these guys get any more animals.

This thread is pretty dumb.....so few people overreacted that two kids killed a wild snake with nail gun. Then get too judgmental and making assumptions about these kids that we don't know about...how you know that they would kill their purchased reptiles?

I think it's the overkill. I don't think a lot of people that live in an area with poisonous snakes would fault someone for killing one, especially if said person doesn't know how to handle snakes. Riddling the thing like that is more than a bit much.

Exactly. And some people use very big nail guns (bow/ crossbows) on other larger animals. I also think it's fair to assume that it didnt take ALL those nails to kill it. Overkill like darth pike said. They probably killed it with the first nail then got a bit trigger happy. Maybe they should have cut the head off and put it on their wall?

Oh yeah, still waiting for anyone, is it illegal to kill a snake?

If I'm understanding this link that I'm about to provide, killing the snake could be considered animal cruelty and therefore illegal. The law in Louisiana concerning cruelty defines it as the killing or torture of an animal for any unjustifiable reason. The reason I say could be illegal is because the link doesn't define justifiable and the pic posted doesn't describe the circumstances under which the snake was killed. So it's hard to make a firm legal or not call with this incident. Here's the link by the way http://www.straypetadvocacy.org/PDF/AnimalCrueltyLaws.pdf

I wonder if you realize the hypocrisy of your post? Calling the thread dumb and defining peoples actions as overreacting is hypocrisy at it's best as your judging them, defining them and making assumptions yourself while faulting them for doing the same thing you are presently doing. The truth is regardless of the reasons for them killing the snake their intention with posting the pic is clear in my opinion. They probably posted it as they thought it was "cool" to do such a thing and thought posting the pic would gain them some sort of positive social reaction. It means they took pride in their handy work killing an animal and thought others would praise them or elicit some attention for themselves that they feel they need and yes that does speak poorly of their moral character and psyche IMO.

This is atrocious. Hopefully, they will be arrested soon. Just make a report.

i think people who inflict pain on other helpless creatures or other humans are a different breed of humans..in my mind evil.

I agree, the animal was taken out of the woods against it's will and then shot with a nail gun. I'm sure if that snake was a person theyed defenitely be arrested.

Well ya if it was a person everything would be different. Its useless comparing it to a person its not even the same thing. I read on one od there profiles that the snake come to his work place not pulled out of the wild and they had to get rid of it. Plus he said they are considered pests there. His words not mine
