Just before Halloween I bought four Festae in the 2" range from a lfs. Over the past two to three weeks I've noticed them being very shy (except one) and thought nothing of it as them and my little Jags are for the most part pretty shy at that size anyway. Well, I really have not seen them eating lately either so I was getting a bit worried... then about three days ago I found one of them floating at the top dead. Another one who always hid in a flower pot and would chase off unwanted visitors was now swimming all weird like its balance was just off and does not look good. Another has a really bad sunken stomach and looks bad too... the fourth one seems fine, but it has not ate in at least the past few days, at least since I been closely watching it. The thing is that I have a bunch of little guys in this tank (trimmed the herd today tho) and all are doing very well, growing fast as weeds and looking great... except the Festae, who happen to be my favorite fish, and I can't help but wonder if I got a bad batch from the lfs?? Most of the other fish came from Dan at COA, but some came from the same lfs and are fine. They seemed fine for the first month.... virus?? Idk...

have they been trying to eat food and spitting it out or not even bothering?

Have you treated for IPs?

they may have been exposed to ammonia b4 u got them. this happens alot. i worked at a lfs for a few months and tested some tanks and found some ammonia and nitrite in thier water. i got some good fish and some bad fish from them over the years. it could be ammonia poisoning they are little and fragile at that size but have hope they may make it/ that is if your parameters are good

If they're not eating you have to treat them with Kanamycin & Metro in combination. What are your water perameters? Include Ph and hardeness if you have it.

Sorry I just got back home.... All the other fish in the tank eat fine just not the Festae. The one that was swimming funny just died too... I have only two left. I can treat the tank in the morning, but again all of the other fish seem fine. Better safe than sorry I guess, no?? Thanks!!

iv had similair experiences with my festae, my largest one out of 3 which is about 3-4 inches all of a sudden stopped eating about almost a month ago, his belly is sunken in and swims around fine. the second bigest which is 2 inches eats every now and then and the smallest ones always eats. i have a little 2 innch midevil in there too nad hes eating like a pig and so is my bichir.
