sorry if this sounds silly (not a snake person) but I'm just wondering... aside from these snakes being really beautiful, what is the draw for keeping them? I mean.. you can't really hold them or interact much right? since they have venom? wouldn't it be more fun to have a snake you could hold and let out of the enclosure? or... do you take them out?

No I do not take them out except for when I have to. It is sort of like keeping fish, you cant hold or play with them either but lots of people still keep them. I started out liking the common pet snakes but after a while I craved for the next step up and wanted more advanced and rare specie and then onto venomous. Since I have made the switch to venomous I have little to no interest in keeping most non venomous snakes.

Snakes are my drug of choice it is like I have moved on from the tylenol of snakes to the crack cocaine of snakes and I can't quite or go back....Im a hardcore user....:)

haha, well you seem passionate! good explanation :) I think I'll stick to fish...

so you have to take them out though to clean the enclosure right? how do you wrangle them? I've seen people on nature shows use a big hook. I hope you don't ever get bit!

haha, yes I use a snake hook to keep them at a safe distance. and thank you, I hope I never get bit too.

Chris, dont you have a video camera, wanna do a walkthrough of your house so we can see all your snakes?

^this!!

you're a member of monster fish keepers and you're saying this? what, do you cuddle with your fish or something?:screwy:

So I'm guessing that eliminates the Pine as a handling animal? I wouldn't wanna go digging around in that tank...

Part of the appeal of Reptiles over fish is the handling aspect, right? I don't think the :screwy: is necesarry...
