Dorado tankmates?

Agree to disagree.......

I think if you ask most ray keepers they will agree. No different then Armatus or ATF. I think it would take unique circumstances like a monster sized, huge, fish and a little bitty pup swimming mid water at just the right time.

I don't think the monster Dorado H20 had for like 10 years ever even messed with any small rays.
I think it also depends on the personality of the dorado aswell. some of mine are quite sociable and then I've got some that would try to kill everything in the same tank.

I've never heard of any cases of Dorado attacking rays. IF there are some floating around I'd love to hear/read about them.

Mine don't even go after chunks of food too big to swallow whole. I cut big pieces for the wolves and the Dorado just wait for smaller pieces. I can't see them attacking pups unless the pups were bite size which would take a very large, very old Dorado.

I'd assume the rays themselves to be a much larger threat to pups then a Dorado.

But then again I've never had one of these Dorado that try to kill everything, despite having probably 15 through my tanks.

NOT saying it isn't possible, just saying I've never experienced it.

Possible to have trouble with the ATF, or Armatus but you never know till you try ... but as far as pups, i think that will be an issue ... my Dorado has been the biggest problem as far as introducing smaller fish, he has killed multippe small datnoids, but i mean i should have never tried the datnoids in the first place cause they came in way too small ... i also guarantee my Dorado ate at least 1 pup from my last litter, but then again my Dorado is about 20 inches now, so i'd say not too much risk until he gets bigger

You must have witnessed this in order to guarantee? Do you guarantee that it may have snacked on an already chewed up pup, or you guarantee that it did indeed kill and eat a pup?

I'm not going to defend them anymore...... lol. Heck, considering the fish I keep together nobody should probably listen to any of my advice anyways..... lmao.

dorado and your ATF will prolly fight , mine did ,and so did brads,so i got rid of the Dorado , seems like the dorado fight with other streamline silvery fish as do ATF but you can always try trevor, never really know till you try, i wouldnt be very worried about them eating pups, they have small mouths even at 17-18" still have small mouths and there not exactly fast growers once they hit 14-15"

Lol DB, not true you give great advice, my post wasnt meant to stab at ya .... i just know my Dorado and he is by far the biggest risk fish in my tank when adding a new tankmate ... and your right, didnt actually see him eat any, but the bulge in his belly was undeniable, and in fact i bet he was the reason there were pup pieces in the tank as well ... my big dats and tarpon would swallow them whole, and in all honesty i dont think my ATF's would eat a goldfish if i threw it in, let alone the pups .... its the Dorado .... i remember when i introduced the bambusa when he was small, and the Dorado nailing him the second he went in the water ... but, once again, you never know till you try, you just never know what can happen
