anyone familar w/ brycon maculatus?

No such critter, got a pic?

If you want an idea of personality, they're more/less bigger exodons... they're just plain nasty. Odoe's are also notorious haters of anything silvery and quick swimming... the fact that they're elongated just makes it worse. Bad combination IMO. If the odoe doesn't kill it while it's small, it'll just outgrow the odoe and pick on it until it dies.

sorry to bump such an old thread, but it's better than creating a new one. one of my LFS has "Bryoconodon dorado" - Barracuda "type". sorry, i don't have any pics, but what do you think that would be? I know it's probably Brycon, but there is no such species as B. dorado.

anyone?

i think this is the fish:

I'd give Mike a call, looks as if he has an error in his listing. I talked with him about the fish(it was in the same tank as the festae I bought) I think he said it was a dorado, but then again that was a few days back, so I could be wrong.

Ya, it was in w/ the festae in the corner. I forgot to ask him when I was in there to pick up the lapradei.

Hi all, i am new to this forim stuff, i hope i am in the right part of this web site. Any ways i have been reading alot of you conversations on the cudas and i am very interested to know more about them, especially the brycon. I puechaced one from a local store that is fantastic. I bought this brycon with little knowledge and the store clerk had told me it is not very aggressive and rarely eats live food. Know i am a bit confused with thiese statements because my brycon is 20x more pist off than a postman. he seems extreemly angry and wants to kill anything that looks at him. Now my question to all of you is the brycon you have, are they nasty or should i look towards possible issues with its surroundings? I have checked this water day in and day out and the chemistry is perfect. I would just like to know if this is proper behavior or what, its really cool if that is the case. Also, what have you all found that they prefer eating? mine munches on small amounts of krill and live feeders. Thank you very much for you time. Don

the more common species of brycon found are mean SOBs...and can be more aggro than dorados.
they will eat almost anything really.
