Easy man.......

If you have the means then why do you sound so offended? I NEVER said anything about you not having the means. I simply stated they get big and need a big tank. NO WHERE did I imply that you couldn't house them.

Ideas transfer on this site like the plauge. Many people find this site by looking for info on fish like these...... So now when they happen across it they know they get big and take a big tank. You may have the means which is GREAT but people that read this need to know that there is a reason NO ONE has had a shoal of them successfully.

So now that you have made it clearly evident that you do have the means to house monsters like this how bout showing us some pics!!!!

I'm sorry if I offended you. But the idea of 10 Dorado really isn't that far off (FOR THE TYPICAL) from the idea of Oscars in a 55.

So if I offended you please accept my apology. I was just out to make a point in general directed towards the idea of 10 together, not towards you or your fishkeeping ability, after all YOU were NOT the only person in this thread that is thinking about multiples.

And this is just my opinion. I got 4 and should have got 1. I can admit that.... and if I can save one person from making the same mistake then to me it was worth it.

db junnkie you do'nt know me or know the size tanks i have, you should have ask frist, before you started shooting off at the mouth about buying 10 dorado is irresponsable i could own a 10,000 gal tank for all you know, i been in this hobby for 25years to know the ends an out about it, and i also know that dorado can grow any where from 28" to 36" captive. so be a good hobbiest an ask frist before you make a statment like that. I do'nt know everthing an i do'nt have a problem with asking question thats why we all like this site to learn more, thats what makes it fun. So have a great day

^^^ I will agree. I should just assume that anyone buying 10 Dorado has a 10K gallon tank.

Can't wait for pics to put me in my place.

^ 6 hours later and still waiting for pics of said 10K tank/pond

I just got my 4 Dorados today from Rapps.

Just my 2 cents, I know several people who own Dorados for several years. All of them did not grow past 2 feet in a large tank. I guess I go more by experience from fish keepers than what I see in the wild.

could you please define "large tank" for me.

dorados aren't illegal in tx are they? interested in gettin one....

Can you tell me how long have you kept fishes? It is common knowledge that fishes dont grow that big in a tank as in the wild. A large tank is 220-360 gallons, that is what the Dorados are kept in.

George from Shark Aquarium would also say that Dorados dont grow that big in a tank. Want to argue with him? I think not

You have to go by experience rather than what people say out of nowhere and they never had experience with the fish.

I have 4 Dorados now. I had a Dorado in the past also for about a year. It did not grow to like a monster where I could not keep it.

Yea, I know what I am getting into. It is not like buying 10 pacus.

If Oddball couldn't get a shoal to work in 300+ gallons then I'm very weary of anyone getting it to work...

I beg to differ....

The key to keeping dorado is to have many fish in the tank, preferebly dithers like tinfoil barbs. The more fish the better with dorado. If you only have two or three fish in a tank then they will have nothing to do but to bash on them all day long. They're skitzo. LOL. And normally they are kings of the tank.
